Research Triangle Park, N.C. — Quintiles Transnational, a global contract research organization, is teaming with DynPort Vaccine Co. for a $32 million federal contract.
The National Institutes of Health and its National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases awarded the seven-year project.
Quintiles will use its new clinical trial facility in Overland Park, Kan., to conduct Phase 1 clinical trials for potential treatments of infectious diseases.
As many as four proposed drugs will be tested each year. A priority will be testing of biodefense pathogens along with emerging and re-emerging infectious diseases.
DynPort is listed as the prime contractor. DynPort is part of CSC (NYSE: CSC), which is based in Falls Church, Va.
Quintiles opened the Kansas facility in May 2007. It includes 150 beds.
