Expression Analysis to perform genetic tests for NIH genome project

Expression Analysis, a developer of genetic testing technology, will provide microarray services for the Immunological Genome Project.

The National Institutes of Health is funding the genome consortium, which includes 10 laboratories around the country..

Researchers plan to generate what they call a “complete microarray dissection” of the immune system of a mouse at a genetic level. Cells will be analyzed at different levels of maturation as well as through immune system responses and other situations.

Financial terms of the agreement between Expression Analysis and the genome project were not disclosed.

“We are pleased to have been selected to work on this project to define the connectivity between genes in different immune cells, and how the network fluctuates with genetic variation,” said Expression Analysis Chief Executive Officer Steve McPhail in a statement

Expression Analysis clients include GlaxoSmithKline, Wyeth Research and the Environmental Protection Agency.

In April 2007, the company won a multi-year contract with the EPA worth nearly $6 million.
