Research Triangle Park, N.C. — Looking for a hot venture capital market?
Try New Mexico – or Pittsburgh?
Both are among the fastest growing centers of VC money and action, according to a new survey from the National Venture Capital Association.
Seattle, Los Angeles, and the Washington DC metro area also have shown substantial growth over the past 10 years.
Not cracking the top five list is either the Research Triangle Park or North Carolina or Georgia.
Silicon Valley and New England still dominate the VC market, especially the Valley where about one third of all VC deals are done.
However, the top five markets in terms of growth over the past 10 years doesn’t include either:
1.New Mexico
2. Pittsburgh
3. Seattle
4. Los Angeles
5. Washington, D.C.
The report is based on data provided by Thomson Financial.
New Mexico and Pittsburgh have shown strong growth in what the NVCA described as “non-traditional venture capital regions.”
