The color is coming on very rapidly as more than half of the trees above 4,000 feet have already turned. The color should be at its peak along the Blue Ridge Parkway between Blowing Rock and Grandfather Mountain this weekend. The forecast is calling for cloudy conditions Saturday morning, but the sun should come out and make the colors look brighter as the weekend progresses.
